Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 1) - With the market cooling down over the past few months, one figure has been standing out among the rest: vehicle imports have hit 195,000 units this quarter, continuing a trend of positive growth. The amount of imported vehicles this quarter is 40.9 percent higher than first quarter of 2010, chinanews.com reported.
Mercedes-Benz leads the list of best-selling foreign brands, being followed by BMW and Lexus. The rest of the top ten list was full of other luxury brand makers, currently China's fastest growing segment. Officials within the China Automobile Trading Company predict imports to exceed 190,000 vehicles again next quarter. Small to midsize cars (with engines of 3.0 L or less) and SUVs are also showing strong growth.
