Infiniti and Acura aim to compete with new domestically manufactured vehicles

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 13) - As Chinese sales of imported automobiles continue to falter, Infiniti announced the release of their first domestically-manufactured car, the Q50L, earlier this month. Around the same time, Honda's luxury brand Acura has announced its domestic manufacturing plans for the next two years. Meanwhile, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are expanding their domestically manufactured product lines by introducing new models. All of these manufacturers have their sights set on increasing their respective market shares.

According to statistics, China has imported a total of 1.05 million automobiles over the first three quarters of the year. On average over 100,000 vehicles have been imported a month. However, while automobile imports remain steady, sales of imports have been falling. As a result, dealership inventories have been on the rise since July. In particular, the inventory index rating for dealership stocks totaled 3.76 points in September, nearing the highest level reached in 2012. This is what has led manufacturers like Infiniti and Acura to move to complete ambitious domestic production plans.

The domestic Dongfeng Infiniti Q50L (pictured) will be sold alongside the imported version. They will be joined by the Infiniti QX50, which will make its debut by the end of the year.

Acura, meanwhile, is looking forward to bring a new domestically-produced lineup to the country. Preorders for its brand new TLX have already begun.
