Gasgoo.com ( Shanghai September 17) From January to July this year, sales in luxury car market in China saw an overall growth of 2% and the first single-month drop of 3%, the severest situation in recent years. During the past 10 years, sales in luxury car market has maintained a yearly growth of 20-40%, way higher than that of car market.

Lately,Daniel Kirchert, General Manager of Infiniti, said that according to the statistics, the performance of luxury car market inChinawas weakened by the fall of imported car market, as domestic luxury car market maintained a 20% growth. In August, the sales of two domestic car models of Infiniti, Q50L and QX50, accounted for 72% of the overall sales, and for past five consecutive months, the sales of these two models surpassed 50% of the overall sales. From January to July, Infiniti saw an overall growth of 30% in domestic car sales.

Despite all this, Daniel Kirchert admitted that this is the toughest year forChinaluxury car market. While with dealers, Infiniti will stick to the win-win philosophy through supportive business policies and proper inventory management.

As a foreigner in China auto industry, Daniel Kirchert takes a positive stand on the long-term development of luxury car market in China. In his opinion, the fundamentals haven’t change, and fourth-to-fifth-tier cities in China will push forward urbanization, and demand will keep upgrading. He believes that in the future, there will be some difference in the performance of luxury car market, with negative growth to be seen in first-to-second-tier cities and rapid growth to be maintained in fourth-to-fifth-tier cities.

Daniel Kirchert pointed out that whether luxury car market in China grows or falls in the short term is not significant. The key is that the sales goal made by car enterprises surpassed demand, making dealers struggle in the fierce price war and undertake much pressure. For dealers’ survival and success in making profits by selling new cars, Infiniti will stick to the win-win philosophy.
