Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 4) - Kumho Tires has officially announced that it will comply with requests for a massive recall of its Tianjin-made tires, www.chinanews.com reported earlier this week. The order comes in the face of accusations that Kumho's tires pose a serious safety risk.
Kumho Tires complied with the request to recall 302,673 tires on Beijing Hyundai, Great Wall Motor and Dongfeng Yueda Kia cars. The order was made in compliance with the Administration of Recall of Defective Auto Products made effective in 2004.
Kumho Tires reported to the nation's General Administration of Quality Supervision, stating that while the tires being recalled may use inferior rubber, which would affect performance, they have no serious production faults. Kumho will replace the tires without charge, as well as offering a six month guarantee for any tires made since March 2008.
