Mitsubishi Lancer EX sedans recalled in China for airbag risk

Shanghai November 17 (Gasgoo.com) Southeast Motor Corp has started today to recall 30 Mitsubishi Lancer EX sedans in China for airbag risk, China National Radio reported Wednesday, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).

The recall affects Mitsubishi's EX sedans produced during July 12-13 2010.

The front seat airbags were mounted from a wrong angle, which, in extreme cases, may cause drivers' legs to block the exhaust vents when collision occurs, making the airbags more rigid and resulting in high-temperature airbag exhaust gas that may burn the legs, the AQSIQ said in a statement posted on its website.

Southeast Motor, a Chinese partner of Mitsubishi Motors Corp based in South China's Fujian Province, said it will repair or replace the airbags at no charge to owners.

For more information, owners can call the AQSIQ by dialing 010-59796616/65537365, or visit its website at www.dpac.gov.cn.
