
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 22) - Volkswagen's new Passat NMS, successor to the Passet B6, will make its Chinese debut at this year's Shanghai Automobile Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2011), auto.qq.com reported today. Following its premiere, the new sedan will be produced and Shanghai VW joint venture.
According to reports the car will have a North American starting price of $20,000, a figure relatively competitive in the Chinese market. The car is expected to be slightly cheaper than FAW-VW's upcoming Passat B7, based on the current Passat.
The North American Passat NMW is powered by either a 170-hp 2.5L or 280-hp 3.6L V6 engine, while the new Chinese version will be based on either a 1.8TDI or 2.0TDI clean diesel.
