Nissan Motor Co., Japan's third- largest automaker, may raise its global output by about 13 percent next fiscal year.
Nissan has informed suppliers that it may build 3.698 million vehicles in the year beginning April 1, spokesman Toshitake Inoshita said today. The Yokohama, Japan-based company said in February it expected to produce 3.287 million units in the current fiscal year.
Separately, Toyota Motor Corp., the world's biggest carmaker, raised its 2010 global production target 1 percent to 7.57 million vehicles, Reuters reported, citing an unidentified person at a Toyota group company. Ririko Takeuchi, a spokeswoman for the Toyota City, Japan-based automaker, declined to confirm or deny the report.
Honda Motor Co., Japan's second-largest carmaker, plans to boost output about 10 percent next fiscal year, aided by gains in emerging markets, the Nikkan Kogyo newspaper reported without saying where it obtained the information. Honda spokeswoman Yasuko Matsuura declined to confirm or deny the report.
