Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 6) - Porsche China announced that it will be conducting a recall of Cayenne crossover SUVs due to a potential flaw in their headlights, the Beijing Morning Post reported today. The recall, which is scheduled to begin on March 23, will target 2011 and 2012 year Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne S Hybrid, Cayenne Turbo and Cayenne Diesel models manufactured between early March 2010 and late January of this year. The recall will reportedly affect 20,826 Cayennes sold in mainland China.

The headlights in the SUVs (pictured) in question may not have been installed properly, which leads to the risk of them falling out after sustained driving. Porsche promises that it will replace the headlight locking mechanisms of all recalled vehicles, as well as amend the Cayenne's instruction booklet. All affected unsold Cayennes in its inventories will also have their headlights inspected and fixed.

The recall was apparently called due to several US incidents of Cayennes crashing at night. The repair procedure reportedly only took 30 to 40 minutes in other countries and was done free of charge.
