Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 15) - Whether or not Renault begin manufacturing cars within the country is the question on everyone's minds nowadays. This answer has just received an answer that may not please everyone, with Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn saying that they will begin Chinese production soon, but without mentioning a specific date.

Mr. Ghosn hopes that the manufacturer will reach a production volume of 100,000 vehicles within three to five years. Sources within the French government also confirmed the report.

Renault, which entered the Chinese market in 1993, has had a rocky history within the country. However, the recent success of the Sanjiang Renault project may have given the manufacturer the confidence boost it has been looking for. Sales of Renaults in China nearly doubled to a historic high of 14,705 units last year.
