Gasgoo Munich-Schaeffler has officially inaugurated a new building for its Changsha R&D Center. Located in the Xiangjiang Intelligent Connected Industry Incubation Base, the facility spans a total construction area of roughly 5,000 square meters. Integrating R&D laboratories, a pilot workshop, a showroom, and comprehensive office spaces, it is designed to provide enhanced hardware support for cutting-edge technology development, product testing, and client interaction.

As a vital component of Schaeffler's global R&D network, the center focuses on electric drive systems, intelligent chassis technologies, and autonomous driving solutions. Specific research areas include steer-by-wire systems, high-performance electro-hydraulic steering, and various advanced electric drive products. As business progresses and the research team expands, the original site has struggled to meet new demands for space and collaboration. The opening of the new building is a direct response to these development needs.
Currently, the Changsha R&D Center houses approximately 170 employees, including several experts with deep technical expertise in their fields. The new site's location within the Xiangjiang Intelligent Connected Industry Incubation Base aggregates comprehensive resources from the intelligent connected vehicle industry cluster, creating a broad platform for collaborative synergy for Schaeffler. With strong support from the local government, Schaeffler is further integrating into the local industrial ecosystem, promoting the deep fusion of cutting-edge R&D with practical industrial application to achieve resource sharing and complementary advantages.
Uwe Wagner, Chief Technology Officer of the Schaeffler Group, stated that the completion and opening of the new Changsha R&D building is an important milestone in Schaeffler's global innovation strategy. It will further assist the company in becoming a leading technology company focused on drive technologies. "China has already become a global hub for innovation, especially in the automotive industry," Wagner noted. "Schaeffler is optimistic about the huge potential of the Chinese market. By deeply integrating R&D capabilities into the local industrial ecosystem, Schaeffler is laying a solid foundation for long-term development."
