Shanghai September 16 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai GM, a joint venture between General Motors Corp and SAIC Motor Corp, will add 13 Cadillac dealers in China, mostly in southern China, bringing the total to 60 in no time, Southern Metropolis Daily reported Thursday.
The company will also launch the Cadillac SLS (Seville Luxury Sedan) and Cadillac CTS Coupe in China at the Guangzhou Auto Show to be held in December this year.
The southern part of China is always a key market for luxury vehicles. In order to grab more market share, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have been accelerating expansion in the first-tier cities for years, such as Guangzhou where the former two have already set up three to four dealerships or exhibition halls, while Cadillac has only one dealership in the city.
Since its entery into the Chinese market in 2004, Cadillac has been committed to offering Chinese customers the best products and services. For the past six years, Cadillac has continued to improve its brand image, enlarge its product portfolio, enhance its service system, and expand its distribution network. It currently has 47 dealers in China.
Shanghai GM's luxury brand, reported sales of 1,624 units for August, an increase of 177.6% over the same period last year. As of September 1, Cadillac car sales reached 10,445 units, up 157.5% from a year earlier, making it the fastest-growing luxury car brand, of which the Cadillac SRX sold 5,401 units.
