Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 18) - In compliance with standards laid out by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Shanghai General Motors will begin recalling Buick GL8s in China later this month, China Business News reported today. The recall, which will commence on December 15, will target 77,579 GL8s manufactured between November 2010 and November 2012.

The GL8 (pictured) is being recalled due to an issue with the front passenger seat's seatbelt. When not fastened or fastened improperly, the seatbelt's pretensioner may be worn out by stress from the seat cushion, potentially making it unusable in the future.

Shanghai GM will offer free inspection and maintenance of all recalled vehicles in order to eliminate the issue.

The Buick GL8 is one of the only luxury minivans offered in China, and as such has been able to attract a significant number of orders. Monthly sales of the GL8 exceed 5,000 units, making it the most sold vehicle in the segment. 5,617 GL8s were sold in November.
