Shanghai September 29 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai Volkswagen will recall 24,136 Skoda Fabia cars in China starting September 30 due to ECU error codes that may cause stalling, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) in a statement on its website.
The recall involves the Fabia cars manufactured between August 6, 2008 and July 12, 2010, according to the statement.
The error codes stored in the ECU (engine control unit) could lead to sudden decrease in engine speed, or even flameout in extreme cases, while users lifting off the throttle, sliding forward, with the air conditioner shifted to cooling state.
The company will offer a free inspection for owners affected and reset the error codes to avoid possible risks.
The Shanghai-based automaker will inform owners of the recall by mail or phone. Owners can also send the cars to franchised Skoda dealerships for repair.
For more information, owners can call the company on a hotline at 400-8201-111, or call the AQSIQ by dialing 010-59796616/65537365, or visit AQSIQ's website at www.dpac.gov.cn.
