Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 25) - Shanghai VW's new Polo will be equipped with VW's EA211 engine, autohome.com.cn reported today. Other than the engine change, the new Polo seems to be identical to the previous one.

The EA211 engine (pictured) is part of the German manufacturer's Bluemotion series of fuel efficient technologies. The engine is the first Chinese-manufactured engine to adhere to Euro V emission standards. The 1.4 L variant of the engine can produce up to 89 hp, while the 1.6 L version has a maximum output of 110 hp. By comparison, the EA111 engine currently used in the Polo respectively boasts maximum outputs of 86 hp and 105 hp in its 1.4 L and 1.6 L forms.

There has not been any other information on what differences the new Polo will have with the current model.
