Japanese auto maker Subaru will recall 2,266 units of its Legacy and Outback models due to problems with the CVT's cooling hose, China's top quality watchdog said Monday.
The recall, beginning next week, includes 2,263 Legacy and three Outback vehicles manufactured last year from July 3 to October 2.
The reason for the recall is due to a crack found on the surface of the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) cooling hose as a result of the alteration of manufacturing technology and poor operation during the assembly process.
The problem may cause oil to leak from the hose hampering the vehicle's long-term driving, said a statement on the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine website.
Subaru China said it will conduct inspections on the recalled vehicles and replace the faulty cooling hoses with new ones.
Customers can also contact Subaru's designated repair stations to arrange for an inspection and receive a new hose.
Subaru recalled 70 Tribeca sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in China to repair door lock flaws in March and 1,135 Tribeca SUVs for control system flaws in January last year.
