According to data from Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, BYD deepened its global footprint for passenger car exports in the first two months of 2026, with core markets driving growth and regional demand diverging sharply. Brazil emerged as the undisputed core market, leading the way with exports exceeding 50,000 units. The United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom followed in second and third place, respectively, while multiple European nations posted gains and markets in the Middle East, Oceania, and Southeast Asia steadily gained ground. Distinct regional preferences for pure electric versus plug-in hybrid models—shaped by local energy structures and driving habits—are evident. BYD is leveraging a precise product matrix to match these needs, solidifying its competitive edge overseas and fortifying the foundation of its global expansion.

Based on the export database from Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, here are the top 10 destination countries for BYD passenger car exports in the first two months of 2026:

No. 1 Brazil: Exports totaled 52,485 units in the first two months of 2026, comprising 34,251 pure electric passenger vehicles and 18,234 plug-in hybrids.

No. 2 United Arab Emirates: The company shipped 14,885 units, including 14,332 plug-in hybrids and 553 pure electric vehicles.

No. 3 United Kingdom: Exports reached 10,965 units, consisting of 8,382 plug-in hybrids and 2,583 pure electric passenger vehicles.

No. 4 Australia: A total of 8,774 units were exported, with 5,803 pure electric models and 2,971 plug-in hybrids.

No. 5 Belgium: The automaker exported 8,145 units, split between 4,134 pure electric vehicles and 4,011 plug-in hybrids.

No. 6 Germany: Exports totaled 6,163 units, featuring 4,297 pure electric passenger cars and 1,866 plug-in hybrids.

No. 7 Israel: Shipments came to 5,236 units, dominated by 5,018 plug-in hybrids alongside 218 pure electric vehicles.

No. 8 Spain: BYD exported 4,939 units, including 2,585 plug-in hybrids and 2,354 pure electric models.

No. 9 Philippines: Total exports hit 4,041 units, with 3,232 plug-in hybrids and 809 pure electric passenger vehicles.

No. 10 Saudi Arabia: The market received 3,760 units, composed of 3,758 plug-in hybrids and just 2 pure electric vehicles.

Regionally, BYD’s overseas presence is characterized by Latin America leading the way, a strong showing in the Middle East, balanced growth across Europe, and steady penetration in Oceania and Southeast Asia. In Latin America specifically, Brazil tops the list with cumulative exports of 52,485 passenger vehicles.

Brazil’s market is driven by a dual-track strategy featuring both pure electric and plug-in hybrid models. Pure electric exports reached 34,251 units, outpacing the 18,234 plug-in hybrids shipped. This mix aligns with local policies pushing for a transition to new energy transportation and suits high-usage scenarios like urban commuting and ride-hailing. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrids offer a balance of long-range travel and refueling convenience, creating a synergistic dynamic between the two powertrains.

The Middle East delivered a standout performance, with the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and Saudi Arabia all cracking the top 10 to become key growth drivers for BYD’s exports. The UAE ranked second with 14,885 units—96% of which were plug-in hybrids, totaling 14,332. Israel followed a similar pattern, with plug-in hybrids accounting for over 95% of its volume. Saudi Arabia’s preference was even more pronounced: 3,758 plug-in hybrids versus just 2 pure electric vehicles. This skew correlates with regional fuel prices, long-distance driving habits, and the need for versatile energy options. Plug-in hybrids have precisely matched these core demands, establishing themselves as the dominant products in the region.

In Europe, BYD continues to make steady inroads. The United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, and Spain all secured spots in the top 10, marking Europe as the automaker’s most extensively covered mature market. The UK took third place with 10,965 units exported, followed closely by Belgium, Germany, and Spain. Export volumes for these nations clustered in the 4,900 to 11,000-unit range, reflecting a pattern of balanced development.

In terms of model mix, Belgium’s pure electric and plug-in hybrid exports were nearly equal, while pure electrics made up more than half of Germany’s volume. Spain saw a similar split between the two. This indicates broad acceptance across Europe for BYD’s dual-energy strategy. As the birthplace of the automotive industry, Europe demands high standards of quality and brand recognition. BYD has relied on consistent product strength to achieve sustained volume growth, laying the groundwork for deeper market penetration.

Oceania and Southeast Asia are also demonstrating strong growth potential. Australia ranked fourth with 8,774 units exported, including 5,803 pure electric vehicles—a figure significantly higher than plug-in hybrids. This suggests a high local acceptance of pure electric models and a rapid pace of new energy adoption. The Philippines, representing Southeast Asia, also made the top 10 with 4,041 units. Plug-in hybrids accounted for nearly 80% of that total, continuing the region’s preference for this powertrain and achieving steady breakthroughs through flexible energy adaptability.

Overall, BYD has crafted a regional deployment strategy tailored to global nuances. Pure electric models are targeting markets with favorable policies and high new energy adoption, while plug-in hybrids dominate regions where charging infrastructure is less developed and where long-distance travel is the norm. Thanks to this precise product structure and market positioning, BYD continued to solidify its global competitiveness in early 2026. Its overseas market tiers are clearly defined, and growth momentum remains robust.
