Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 24) - Combined yearly business returns for the hundred top performing automobile dealership networks in 2012, as listed by the China Automobile Dealers Associations, totaled 966.41 billion yuan ($156.15b), the Nanfang Daily reported today. The figure is equivalent to year-on-year growth of 13.5 percent.
The top 100 dealerships sold a combined total of 4.83 million vehicles over the course of the year, representing year-on-year growth of 23.5 percent. That growth rate was well above the industry average of 16.2 percent. The 100 dealerships accounted for 25.1 percent of all Chinese automobiles sales last year. They possess 4,300 first-tier passenger car dealerships in China, 20 percent of the total number of first-tier dealerships in the country.
China Grand Auto was the year's best performing dealership enterprise, having sold a total of 484,064 vehicles, equivalent to 72.62 billion yuan ($11.73b). It was followed by Sinomach Automobile, Pang Da Automobile Trade, Zhongsheng Group, Lei Shing Hong, Zhejiang Yuantong, Baoxin Auto, Hubei Hengxindelong, Yongda Auto, ZhengTong Auto and GDQC.
A total of 25 Chinese dealership networks reported total business returns of over 10 billion yuan ($1.62b) in 2012, with four of those–China Grand Auto, Sinomach, Pang Da and Zhongsheng–managing to earn total returns of over 50 billion yuan ($8.08b). Those four enterprises sold 484,064 vehicles, 172,994 vehicles, 452,609 and 184,286 vehicles, respectively.
Officials from the CADA point out that East China and North China remained the two most profitable regions for automobile dealerships last year, with the majority of the hundred top performing dealerships situated across the two regions.
