Gasgoo Munich- According to the "Shanghai Jiading" WeChat account, Shanghai Motivo Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. recently passed final acceptance inspection for its automotive styling design R&D center and physical model production base. The project represents a total investment of 120 million yuan.
Situated in the Automotive New Energy Port in Waigang Town—specifically Unit JDS3-0301, Plot 05-04—the site is bordered by plot boundaries to the east and north, Yuanchi Road to the west, and Hengding Road to the south. It covers a land area of 8,532 square meters with a total floor area of 16,720 square meters.

Once operational, Motivo's core automotive design subsidiary will relocate entirely to the site, creating a hub that integrates R&D, design, and production. Leveraging this expansion, the company plans to build a comprehensive R&D and design system covering forward-looking design, exterior and interior styling, interaction design, and performance matching—specifically tailored to the evolving demands of the new-energy vehicle sector.
The facility will also establish standardized processes for physical model production, refined manufacturing techniques, and a full-lifecycle quality assurance system. As the company describes it, this strategic move refines its business portfolio, marking a shift from traditional automotive model manufacturing to full-chain R&D and design for new-energy vehicles. Looking ahead, Motivo plans to introduce German five-axis machining equipment and large-scale body printing technology, alongside specialized outdoor and VR review zones, to boost both the efficiency and quality of its styling development.
Established in 2011, Shanghai Motivo Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. has grown into a National "Little Giant" enterprise and a Shanghai "Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative" (SRDI) company.
