China Knowledge quoted a spokesman in the Japanese automaker's Beijing Office said Toyota Motor Corp and its China joint ventures saw vehicle sales grow 7.7%YoY to 60,900 units in June.
The spokesman said in the first half of this year sales rose 27.4%YoY to 362,300 units.
Toyota earlier said that the CNY 3.8 billion plant it is building will begin production in the first half of 2012. Toyota will initially produce 100,000 Corollas per year.
The new plant is being built in Changchun in Northeast China Jilin Province and will be operated by Toyota joint venture with FAW Group Co, Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co Ltd.
The Japanese automaker current annual production capacity is 800,000 units in China, the world largest auto market.
