US: Honda, Porsche, Nissan announce new recalls

Gasgoo From The Detroit News

The Detroit News (Washington, D.C.) - Three automakers announced new recalls Friday — including 8,700 Honda SUVs for fire risks.

Honda Motor Co. said it is recalling 8,709 2012 Honda Pilot and Acura MDX SUVs over fire risks.

The automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a component of the on-board vapor recovery system located inside of the fuel tank was molded using a composite material that does not meet the design specifications and could cause fuel leaks. Honda will notify owners next month and replace fuel tank assemblies if necessary.

Porsche AG will recall 20,278 2011-2012 Cayenne SUVs — including the S, hybrid and turbo models — to replace loose headlights. Porsche said it has had 20 reported cases of loose headlamps, but said there have been no crashes or injuries. The carmaker will replace the headlamp locking components.

Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 3,000 2012 Murano and Rogue vehicles because the vehicles Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems hadn't been activated. Nissan said all of the affected models being recalled are at dealerships — and are being activated by dealers before being sold.
