Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 22) - Volkswagen Group China's new automobile import and distribution center in Shanghai has officially begun operation, Economic Observer News reported today. Following Tianjin and Guangzhou, Shanghai is now how home to VW's third import center in the country.
The Shanghai center will be able to store up to 3,073 vehicles. It can distribute a maximum of 4,000 vehicles a month, servicing up to 23 dealerships. The center will handle imports of Bentley, Bugatti, Seat and Lamborghini vehicles in addition to VW models. It will play an important role in helping the manufacturer specifically target the East China market. After it begins operation, VW's vehicle transport distances are estimated to decrease 20 percent, savings of approximately of 260 km and 12 hours.
VW's dealerships, along with those of its two joint ventures, have been especially subject to supply shortages. The new center will go a great way in helping the manufacturer target the issue.
