Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 4) - Volkswagen has begun recalling DSG transmission-equipped vehicles in Taiwan, autono1.com reported today. The vehicles, which were manufactured before last March, are being recalled due to electronic faults that may occur if they are housed in especially warm or humid conditions. In rare circumstances, the seven speed DSG transmissions may fail to operate or shift properly, leading to various other problems.

The vehicles in question will be fitted with a software update to remedy the issue.

The problems seen in the Taiwanese VWs are similar to those reported in the mainland last year. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine is still investigating the extent of the problem in the mainland, and has yet to issue a recall order.
