German car maker Volkswagen AG said Monday that worldwide deliveries increased 6.7% in July, the third successive month of growth.

MAIN FACTS:

-Deliveries totaled 556,900 units compared with 521,100 in July 2008. This means that 3.65 million vehicles were delivered to customers during the first seven months of this year compared with 3.79 million a year ago.

-Deliveries on the home market rose by 26.9% to 113,700 units. The scrapping premium continued to have a positive effect.

-Developments on the Chinese market were exceptionally positive on the back of state incentive programs. The Group delivered 127,900 vehicles in China, up 68.4% on the same month in 2008, and also representing the highest deliveries ever in a single month.

-A total of 286,900 vehicles were delivered to customers in Europe, down 3% from 295,800 a year ago. The negative situation on the market in Spain and in several countries of Central and Eastern Europe in particular had an impact.

-In South America, the Group sold 74,400, down 1.8 percent from 75,700 a year earlier on an overall market that contracted by 11%.

-In North America, 41,100 vehicles were delivered, down 3.1% from 42,400 a year ago.

-Developments in the Asia/Pacific region were very positive mainly as a result of success in China, with 139,300 units delivered, up 58% from 88,200 a year ago.
