VW's new Chinese factories gain offical approval

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 29) - Volkswagen's new production sites in Foshan, Guangdong and Yizheng, Jiangsu have obtained official approval during the recent Sino-German talks held in Berlin, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today.

VW Chairman Martin Winterkorn signed official agreements with the heads of the manufacturer's two joint venture partners Hu Maoyuan (SAIC Group) and Xu Jian (FAW Group). Dr. Winterkorn remarked that the Chinese market has the potential for great growth.

The FAW-VW Foshan factory will provide the initial springboard for the manufacturer's new energy vehicle research. Meanwhile, the Shanghai VW factory in Yizheng is being built to help the JV satisfy domestic demand for its hot-selling vehicles.
