Wuhan City, Hubei Province, central China will introduce electric cars from Renault Nissan. Both sides inked a cooperative agreement in Yokohama, Japan on March 25, 2010.
From 2011, 25 electric cars produced by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: NSANY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) will be used for the market survey carried out for the promotion of electric cars in Wuhan.
To support the project, Wuhan plans to build 250 charging stations for the operation of the electric cars. Meanwhile, both sides will publicize electric cars to ordinary customers.
Wuhan is one of the 13 pilot cities for the promotion and demonstration of renewable energy vehicles in China. In April 2009, the city signed preliminary agreement with Renault Nissan in Beijing to support the development of electric cars.
Nissan LEAF will be the first electric car model introduced by the Japanese automobile giant into China. As the world's first economy compact car model, LEAF will hit the market of Japan, the US and Europe by the end of 2010.
