Gasgoo Munich- On June 8, the Yijing X9—a model born from the partnership between Dongfeng Motor Group and Huawei—comes standard with Huawei's Qiankun automotive optical technology. The companies also released the full technical specifications of the system.
The Huawei Qiankun optical suite on the Yijing X9 includes the HUAWEI XPIXEL 1-megapixel smart headlight. This system can automatically dim high beams to prevent dazzling oncoming drivers, while also projecting turn signals, pedestrian alerts, and a "Galaxy Walk" welcome sequence.
It also features the HUAWEI XSCENE laser projector, which boasts a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and 98% color gamut. Carrying TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification, it supports wireless content casting from mobile phones and offers viewing modes for single users, dual users, and a "Dynamic Island" display.
The HUAWEI XHUD augmented reality head-up display overlays real-time data—such as navigation arrows, speed limits, and distance to the vehicle ahead—onto the road ahead. It also visualizes the perception and decision-making processes of the Qiankun intelligent driving system.

Since 2021, Huawei has been adapting its optical communication technologies for the automotive sector, rolling out three product lines: smart HUDs, intelligent headlights, and in-car laser projectors. The Yijing X9 is the first to integrate all three systems simultaneously.
The partnership adopted a "full-stack native co-creation" model, involving joint user research, scenario design, prototyping, and validation from the product definition stage onward. The effort mobilized a 5,000-person R&D team with an investment exceeding 10 billion yuan. On the component level, the Yijing X9's 1.83-meter front light strip required 11 months of development and 52 design revisions to achieve a seamless, uniform lighting effect. The taillights, meanwhile, utilize 1,172 micro-LEDs to support multi-scenario smart lighting animations.
Yijing Auto noted that the technology from Huawei's Wuhan Research Institute represents just one part of the vehicle's tech package. Further details involving technologies from other Huawei R&D hubs will be released in the future.
