He argued that recalls are often misunderstood as a synonym for "poor quality," when they signal a maturing market. "Companies are willing to address problems, and regulators set detailed standards," he said. "User safety is protected through such scrutiny."
The recall involves interior emergency mechanical release handles that blend closely with the cabin color scheme, making them difficult to identify. In extreme scenarios, such as a collision cutting power to the low-voltage system, this could hinder occupants from escaping. The State Administration for Market Regulation stated that Tesla, Xiaomi, Leapmotor, XPENG, Geely, Chery, Dongfeng, BAIC BluePark, and China FAW filed for recalls on the same day. The total exceeds 4.27 million vehicles. Tesla accounts for roughly 2.976 million units, or nearly 70% of the total.
Zeng noted that the door handle incident represents a broader trend. "In the pursuit of design, emergency handles are increasingly concealed," he said.
He explained that the Yijing X9 prioritizes safety in its door handle design. "We reinforced the mechanical structure and added a central backup power source," he detailed. "This ensures doors open smoothly during normal use, power outages, or after a crash. This is not a selling point; it is a baseline. The door handle is small, but the door it controls is vital for survival."
