ViTai Robotics and Tencent Cloud establish strategic partnership focusing on embodied AI data

Edited by Taylor From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich-On Nov. 3, Shanghai ViTai Robotics‌ Co., Ltd. and Tencent Cloud struck a strategic partnership. The two sides will team up across three core areas: cloud computing and compute services, large models and MaaS platforms, and smart-industry deployment. Together, they aim to build a closed-loop system for embodied AI spanning data collection, model training, and application deployment.

Under the agreement, Tencent Cloud will supply Weitai Robotics with infrastructure services including GPU compute, high-performance computing, object storage, and databases. That backing will support vision-tactile multimodal data processing, along with the training and simulation of vision-tactile-language-action (VTLA) models and world-action models. For its part, Weitai Robotics plans to prioritize deploying its core R&D and business systems on Tencent Cloud.

On the model development front, the partners will leverage Tencent Cloud’s MaaS platform to collaborate on training, fine-tuning, and inference deployment for multimodal large models and VTLA models. The goal is to close the loop between data collection, model training, and real-world task feedback.

For industrial applications, the two companies plan to run technical validations and explore commercialization in smart manufacturing and similar scenarios. They will later nail down specific cooperation details and project timelines through concrete initiatives.

Founded in January 2024, Weitai Robotics primarily develops vision-tactile sensors, end effectors, and related data-collection gear. Its products are already deployed in 3C electronics, auto parts, and new energy sectors.

As embodied AI pushes into precision-operation scenarios, capturing tactile data, training models, and deploying them in the field have become critical to commercializing the technology. This partnership pairs vision-tactile perception with cloud compute and large-model development platforms. Whether it delivers will hinge on real-world project validations.
