SAIC-owned MG ZS BEV makes premiere at Auto Guangzhou 2018
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The MG ZS BEV, the first BEV model developed by SAIC-owned MG, was formally launched on the eve of the Auto Guangzhou 2018 and will hit the market in 2019.
Retaining the exterior design from the MG ZS fuel-burning version, the new BEV model boasts an energetic front face with an iconic matrix intake grille and sculptural headlights. The side profile looks quite similar to that of the fuel-burning model. The dual waistlines stretching from headlights to taillights and the angular frame of side windows endow the vehicle with somewhat airy spirit.
The MG ZS BEV measures 4,314mm in length, 1,809mm in width and 1,620mm in height (the height including the luggage rack is 1,644mm) with the wheelbase of 2,585mm, which is 4mm lower than that of the existing model.
The new BEV model is outfitted with a new type of rims and offers tires in two sizes--205/60 R16 and 215/50 R17. The green letter “E” attached to the front wing and the rear end indicates that this is a NEV. In addition, we can see the charging port at the middle of the front grille.
Simple but stylish, the interior resembles that of the fossil fuel-powered version as well. The BEV model features a well-designed rotary knob to shift gears which is pretty popular for current EV design.
Powered by an electric motor providing a maximum output of 110kW and a ternary-lithium battery pack developed by SAIC Motor-CATL Power Battery System Co.,Ltd, the MG ZS BEV sports a NEDC-rate range up to 335km and a maximum cruising range of 428km while driving at a constant speed.
