Fujian Daimler to launch Vito and Viano in 2008

Shanghai, September 1 (Gasgoo.com) Fujian Daimler Automotive Ltd (FJDA), Daimler's joint venture with Fujian Motors Group and China Motors Corp, will launch production of Mercedes-Benz Vito and Viano later this year, a company official said Sunday.

Hao Hanlong, general manager of the joint venture, said the company will also have production of Sprinter under way by 2010. 

The company was holding a job fair in Fuzhou Sunday afternoon, recruiting more than 200 staff including vehicle manufacturers, logistic and quality control engineers and managers.

Last October FJDA launched its 208 million euro ($295 million) commercial vehicle manufacturing plant in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province.

Construction of this plant is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2008 and it will have a capacity to produce up to 40,000 Mercedes-Benz multi-purpose vehicles annually by 2009.
