Dongfeng Nissan marks its 1 millionth car off line

Shanghai, September 27 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Nissan, a joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Corp and Japan’s Nissan Motor Co, celebrated its 1millionth car rolling off the assembly line recently in its passenger vehicle factory located at Huadu district, Guangzhou, said Nanfang Daily yesterday. The 1millionth car, X-Trail, is Nissan's latest SUV model which will go on sale in China in October.

Ren Yong, Dongfeng Nissan vice general manager, announced the rolling out of the 1millionth car — the new X-Trail, which indicates that Dongfeng Nissan has stepped into its second golden age. The company aims to become the top passenger vehicle maker in the Chinese market, according to the company’s 2008 -- 2012 plan.

Dongfeng Nissan currently owns eight models: the latest Teana, Qashqai, the latest X-Trail, Tiida hatchback, Tiida sedan, Sylphy, Geniss, and Livina. The products covers sedan, SUV, MPV and Cross-over segments, with annual sales over 300,000 units.

In 2008, Dongfeng Nissan plans to push forward its five-year plan from 2008 to 2012, which aims to push the company into the first-class group among Chinese passenger vehicle manufacturers. The scheme expects the company to rank top among the industry for market share and achieve annual sales of over 500,000 units during 2011-2012.

More than seven new models are expected to be introduced by Dongfeng Nissan for meeting the goal in the coming five years.
