Chinese carmakers shining at Lagos motor fair

Shanghai, September 28 (Gasgoo.com) A motor trade fair was kicked off in Lagos, Nigeria on September 25. Chinese carmakers such as Chery Auto, Changan Motor, Geely Auto, Foton Motor and BYD Auto are promoting their own-brand vehicles at the event, said xinhuanet.com yesterday.

The Lagos auto show at Tafawa Balewa Square venue is expected to host over 100,000 visitors to the event which is tagged "Drive it your way." The show is expected to come to an end on October 2.

Prominent among the automobile firms are China’s own-brand carmakers Chery Auto, Changan Motor, Foton Motor, Geely Auto, BYD Auto, who shines at the show along with Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL), Executive Coach Builders and Alliance Autos, marketers of Nissan, Renault and Dacial.

Others are Coscharis Motors, marketers of BMW, Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN), BriscoeFord and Stallion Motors. Stallion Motors is responsible for the distribution of Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, Hyundai, Mahindra and ZX automobile.

Organized by BKG Exhibitions Limited, the Lagos motor fair would also give potential car owners the opportunity to compare note and negotiate for the best finance scheme available.

Some of China's own-brand carmakers have developed their dealers or distributors in Nigeria. Chery Motors Nigeria Ltd, sole distributor of Chery brand vehicles from China, has flooded the Nigerian market with Chery cars, such as the Tiggo SUVs, QQ mini-cars and Eastar sedans.
