Opel Antara coming to China market in late Oct

Shanghai, October 8 (Gasgoo.com) Germany-based automaker Opel will begin to sell Antara SUV in the Chinese market at the end of this month, China’s newspaper 21st Century Business Herald reported today.

Built on the same platform with Chervolet Captiva, the car will come with a 2.4L engine generating a maximum output of 140 horsepower and it uses the four-wheel drive system. It selling price is estimated at 324,900 yuan ($47,687) for the Chinese market.

The model is expected to compete with Mitubishi Outlander, Toyota RAV4, Kia Sportage, Chervolet Captiva and Honda CRV now sold in China, the report said.

Captiva, Chervolet's best selling compact SUV, arrived in China last year, and the imported U.S.-made SUV is priced between 240,000 yuan and 280,000 yuan per unit in the Chinese market, according to industry sources.
