New Buick Lacrosse, Fabia to be launched soon
Shanghai, October 14 (Gasgoo.com) China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the latest new vehicles production list, covering 37 models by 17 automakers, Beijing Morning Post said today. Included new models such as Fabia, Honda’s new City and Shanghai GM’s new Lacrosse, are about to go on sale by the end of the year.
Code-named SVW7148 and SVW7168, Fabia by made Shanghai Volkswagen appeared on the name list. The Classic Skoda small car, to go on sale in November this year, will start booking in mid-November Guangzhou Auto Show. Also to be unveiedl at the show is the all-new Guangzhou Honda’s City, which will be equipped with the 1.5L-1.8L engine, rather than the 1.3L engine.
Besturn B50, the own-made model of FAW, tends to be the most attractive one among all new independent car brands. As sales networks of Hongqi and Besturn will be merged, whether B50 will be affected is still unknown. The small Besturn B50 will go on sale at the beginning of 2009, sources said.
Shanghai GM’s new Buick Lacrosse will start mass production by the end of the year, with the 2.0L and 2.4L models offered for choice.
Dongfeng Peugeot 207, available in the 1.4L and 1.6L models, will go on sale in China in November 7 first with the sedan model. The hatchback model will be launched afterward. Guess will center on whether the model will use the previous 207CC’s new 1.6L engine.
In terms of quantity, joint-venture vehicle brands and independent vehicle brands are shoulder to shoulder on the list. The majority of cars are revamped models such as Shanghai VW’s Octavia, Tianjin FAW’s Weizhi, Daihatsu xenia and some others.
