Three imported VW models to sell in China in Nov

Shanghai, October 30 (Gasgoo.com) At the upcoming 2008 Guangzhou auto show to be held in later November, Volkswagen AG will display its new Passat CC, Passat R36 and Scirocco sport coupe. The three VW models will be imported for sale in China soon after the show, said xinhuanet.com today.

The Passat CC (Coupe+Car) combines the design of a coupe and the comfort of a sedan. The Passat CC to be sold in China will be powered by a 3.6L V6 FSI engine that produces a peak power of 220kW/6700rpm and its max torque is now 170 Nm/4200 rpm. VW dealers in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong have already begun to accept orders for the Passat CC model, which will be sold for 498,000 yuan ($72,600) to 529,800 yuan.

The new VW Passat R36 may arrive with a 296bhp 3.6-litre V6 engine, four-wheel drive and a quick-shifting semi-automatic gearbox. The new R36 is available as both a stylish saloon and practical estate. It is outstanding by a deeper front bumper, bi-xenon headlights, side skirts and twin exhausts at the rear. The R36, which completes the R-car lineup along with R32 Golf and R50 Touareg, is priced at $64,990 for a manual sedan and $67,590 for a wagon with DSG manu-matic gearbox.

The Scirocco sport coupe will come to China by import earlier than the six-generation Golf, which shares the same platform with Scirocco. The latest 2008 Scirocco will offer options of the TDI diesel engine and TSI petrol engine which generate 122 hp and 200 hp respectively. Scirocco went on sale in Europe in August 2008, priced at 27,490 euro (291,600 yuan) for the 120hp/90kw 1.4L TSI entry level version.

Volkswagen unveiled its all-new Passat CC and R36 at the 2008 Beijing auto show back in April. Its 2009 Scirocco is reportedly being produced by Shanghai VW in China, but the news report is not confirmed yet by the joint venture.
