Shanghai, November 10 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. (DPCA) denied a report claiming that it would lay off 1,000 contract workers from a total of about 9,000 staff, according to the Xinhua Financial Network News.

The report cited a company source as saying that the company had made no such moves.

The Xinhua news agency reported last Friday that the company needs to adjust manpower pertaining to sales conditions and promises that when the sales go up again, they will hire those workers back.

On the same day the joint venture automaker cut this year's sales target to 200,000 units from the original target of 280,000 as sales fall.

The automaker sold just 140,900 units in the first nine months, down 4.6 percent from last year's level.
