BMW's lineup to go on display at Guangzhou show
Cars to be showcased include BMW M3 Coupe, four-door sedan and convertible models, the BMW X6 sports activity coupe, BMW 1, 3, 5 Series, the new 2008 Mini Cooper S Clubman as well as the BMW X3 and BMW X5 models.
The new-to-the-market M3 comes for the first time with an eight-cylinder power unit. Displacing 3,999 cc, the new V8 develops maximum output of 414 bhp, together with peak torque of 295 lb-ft at 3,900 rpm. The BMW M3 with M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic is able to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.6-5.1 seconds, and the top electronic speed limit is 250 km/h.
The 1 Series is a five-door hatchback and the only rear-wheel drive in its class. The BMW 130i AT is equipped with a six-cylinder engine, the most powerful in the 1 Series range, delivering 195 kW (265 hp). With a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, it's the sportiest way to enjoy the BMW 1 Series.
The Mini Cooper S and Mini Cooper S Clubman went on sale in China in September this year. Both of two models have twin turbo kits added to the usual 1.6L 4-cylinder engine of most Mini Cooper models, which greatly boosts the power and torque of the engine.
Through the first three quarters this year, BMW sold 47,342 cars in China, compared with 36,300 a year earlier. BMW's deliveries in the country climbed 36% year on year to 5,280 vehicles in October.
