Shanghai, December 2 (Gasgoo.com) FAW Mazda is preparing for building a new plant, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2010 and will boost the carmaker's production capacity to 120,000 units, Beijing Morning Post said, citing Yu Hongjiang, general manager of FAW Mazda Sales Co.

In an interview at the recent Guangzhou auto show, Yu said FAW Mazda has been short of production capacity since Mazda 6 went on sale. The Mazda 6’s sales success this year has put much pressure on the production capacity, especially reflected in the 2.0L Mazda 6 which has been in short supply for a long time.

With the all-new Mazda 6 -- Ruiyi to go on sale next March, Mazda will face bigger challenge in its existing production capacity.

Thus, FAW Car Co planned to start construction of a new plant, which began on this August 27, and by 2012 FAW Mazda will have a production capacity of 120,000 units.
