Shanghai, December 2 (Gasgoo.com) BYD announced its latest flagship model F3DM will hit the market on December 15. The electric hybrid model will be attached with a new blue BYD label, which is specially design for BYD new energy car models, Beijing News said, citing sources of BYD Auto.

Recently, the F3DM has been approved for production and sale by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) - the state regulator of China's auto industry.

DM stands for Dual Mode, and refers to the combination of an electric drive system and a hybrid system, BYD Auto explained. The automaker is offering drivers the choice of being able to either refuel the hybrid system or simply plug the vehicle into any 220 volt electrical outlet to recharge the battery for the car’s electric motor.

BYD says the car could reach 160km/h when running in the hybrid mode.

F3DM might be priced at around 150,000 yuan ($21,897), said BYD General Manager Xia Zhibing.
