Shanghai, December 12 (Gasgoo.com) Volkswagen will not give up its diesel car plan in China, although it has slowed down the process due to obstacles in the oil product quality and government policy, China Automotive Review reported, citing Volkswagen China vice president Xu Jian.

Xu said China had a long way to go in auto lineup restructuring. For example, the farm vehicles are still taking a large share. Moreover, the government hasn’t prepared the diesel car policy. "We just need time to cooperate with the government, oil refiners and oil companies," said Xu.

Xu pointed out that the quality of oil product was a crucial problem now. "The poor oil quality has hindered the broad application of the latest technology," he said. “We hope the government, automakers and oil providers can come up with a solution to this problem in a short time.

Peter Pang, president of Bosch China, said to China Automotive Review that seven to nine Chinese automakers were in talks with Bosch on diesel car production. He declined to tell the automakers' names.

The Chinese government takes the clean diesel as a choice of new energy, so we believe diesel energy will be more used on auto industry, Peter Pang said.
