Dongfeng Motor sets up Wuhan PV plant
Shanghai, December 29 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company, a subsidiary of China's third largest automaker Dongfeng Motor Company, has finished construction of its Wuhan plant as planned and is to start trial production, xinhuanet.com said today.
Facing the recent upheaval in the economic environment and auto market, carmakers all made adjustments in response to the financial crisis, an executive from Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company said.
The subsidiary has postponed its 2008 new car mass-production, but it is supposed to start the plan in earlier 2009.
The report said the first in-house developed model by Dongfeng Motor, representing the high level of Chinese independent brands and looking to meet joint-venture brands levels, was expected to be showcased at the 2009 Shanghai International Auto Show.
The Wuhan Factory of Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company broke ground in September 2007 in the biggest central China city of Wuhan. The unit will manufacture economical cars, medium-grade cars, and mid- and high-grade sedans, with the first model of a 1.6L sedan.
