Dongfeng Honda exceeds '08 sales target
Shanghai, December 29 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Honda said it over-fulfilled this year sales target on Dec. 26, Xiaoxiang Morning Post reported. The automaker sold 164,200 units this year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 26), up 29% year on year.
At the beginning of 2008, Dongfeng Honda set its sales target of 150,200 for the whole year of 2008. The carmaker then announced to improve its target by 10,000 units in mid-2008 as it saw stable sales growth in the first half and fulfilled the target in the midyear. On Dec.8, the joint-venture company again launched a low-key target increase by 4000 units.
Up to Dec.26, Dongfeng Honda achieved sales of 164,200 vehicles, a triple increase over the industry average.
Honda Civic sold more than 200 units in three days during Changsha auto show this year, clearing off the dealers’ inventory, according to the carmaker’s 4S stores located in Changsha, provincial capital of Hunan in central China. CR-V, the hot-selling Honda model, has been a good-seller and even needs to be bought at an premium price.
Dongfeng Honda vice general manager said the carmaker is planning to expand its capacity to 240,000 units and is expected to reach 200,000 units by the summer of 2009.
