Honda Nov China sales up 8.7% y/y to 45,090 units
Honda Motor Co.'s vehicle sales growth in China picked up in November, ending three months of slowdown amid weakening Chinese economic growth.
The Japanese automaker said Tuesday it sold 45,090 vehicles in China during November, up 8.7% from 41,466 in the same month last year. Honda's sales in China rose 2.4% in October, slowing from growth of 33.6% in July. Sales had fallen in June.
Sales from January to November rose 18% to 421,060 vehicles from 356,730 in the same period last year, Honda said in a statement.
Sales by Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., the Japanese automaker's 50-50 joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., rose 12.1% in the January-November period to 277,885 vehicles from 247,993 in the same period last year.
Guangzhou Honda makes the Accord and Fit sedans and the Odyssey minivan, among other vehicles.
Sales by Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., a 50-50 venture with China's Dongfeng Motor Corp., rose 31.7% in the January-November period to 143,175 vehicles, from 108,737 a year earlier.
But Dongfeng Honda's sales of the Civic sedan in November alone fell 12.2% to 5,763 cars from 6,567 in the same month last year.
