Volvo S80 on special offer through Mar. 31

Shanghai, January 6 (Gasgoo.com) From today through March 31 the Volvo S80 T6 AWD model has its price cut by 110,000 yuan ($16,000) and the new price is 618,000 yuan; the S80 2.5T price is reduced by 100,000 yuan to 458,000 yuan, reported Beijing Business today, citing Volvo dealerships in the capital city.

The dealers said the Volvo models on special offer over the three-month period will not sacrifice any configurations. The price cuts mean that buyers can pay less for the fully-configurated cars to get the maximum price/performance ratio.

Volvo sells three versions of imported S80 in China, the S80 V8 AWD, S80 T6 AWD and S80 2.5T. The retail prices of the three versions were previously set between 498,000 yuan and 895,000 yuan.

Sales of Volvo cars in China increased by 73.2% during 2007 to 12,460 units, of which the locally produced Volvo S40 is the bestselling Volvo vehicles in China with a total of 6,560 units sold. (Its 2008 sales figures are not available yet, but may not be higher). China is following Russia to become the second fastest growing country for Volvo cars.

Changan Ford Mazda, a Chinese venture of Volvo's parent Ford, was reported to start production of the Volvo S80 in 2009. The joint venture may build a long wheelbase version of the S80 specially tailored for the Chinese market.
