Shanghai, January 21 (Gasgoo.com) Following Philip F. Murtaugh's departure last month, Chrysler LLC has named John Kett vice president for Asia operations, the Automotive News reported on Monday.

Kett will be responsible for Chrysler sales and marketing in Asia and will play a pivotal role in aligning Chrysler's business functions in the region, the report said, citing a company statement.

In China he will now replace Murtaugh to take the responsibility of helping Chrysler expand its China operations and seeking a local partner for the US automaker.

Kett joined Chrysler this month as director for finance and controlling. Before Chrysler he was once the CFO of Ssangyong Motor in Korea, and even before that he had been CFO of General Motors China Group.

In his new capacity, Kett will directly report to Mike Manley, Chrysler executive vice president of international sales and global product planning operations.
