SAIC to sell cars in Israel, UK, Spain in 2010

Shanghai, February 3 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) has selected Israel, the UK, and Spain as its first target countries to sell its cars in Europe as of early 2010, Israeli trade portal Port2port said Monday.

David Lubinski Ltd, Peugeot Citroen's local importer in Israel, will begin the regular import of vehicles made by SAIC in the fourth quarter of 2009, and will begin marketing them in January 2010.

The report said that some of the imported cars will come directly from SAIC's assembly plants in Shanghai and Nanjing, while others will come from the company's UK assembly plants, which SAIC acquired from Rover.

All the cars to be imported to Israel will comply with EU Euro-5 emissions standards, it said.
