Shanghai, February 6 (Gasgoo.com) Hyundai Motor's premium model codenamed VI has been renamed as Hyundai Equus and the company will release its super luxury sedan in Seoul on March 3. Ordering for this car will start later this month. The Hyundai Equus will come to the China market by September, said xinhuanet.com today.

The all all-new 2010 Hyundai Equus is the most technologically advanced car ever to be produced in South Korea. In addition it is going to be the most expensive car Hyundai has ever produced. The top-range Hyundai Equus, with a new 5.0-liter V8, will cost 130,000,000 won or $96,000 on the South Korean market.

The Equus will first come with a 3.8-liter Lambda V6 and 4.6-liter Tau V8 engines. Later on a 420 plus horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine will be offered. That engine will take this big Korean limousine from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than 6 seconds. The super luxury car measures 5,160mm x 1,900mm x 1,495mm, with a 3,045mm wheelbase.

Some of the features available on the 2010 Hundai Equus are Pre-Safe seatbelts, LED lights, Vehicle Stability Management System, Lane Departure Warning System and the new in house developed 8-speed automatic gearbox. These also reflect Hyundai's great effort to boost its brand image in the luxury auto market.

The Hyundai Equus will sell at that high price in its home market, but how much it will be in the Chinese market is unclear yet. Hyundai Motor, who has seen rapid sales growth in China recently, may announce the Chinese price of its Equus well ahead of September.
