All-new Volvo XC60 to sell in China for $73,200
Shanghai, February 9 (Gasgoo.com) After the new Volvo S40 2.0L model was launched in China on Jan. 1, the all-new Volvo SUV model XC60 will also be introduced to the Chinese market this year, said xinhuanet.com today. In addition, Volvo hopes to make the long wheelbase S80L in China as Volvo's flagship model for the Chinese market.
The Volvo XC60 production version, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008, made its China debut at the 2008 Beijing auto show in April. It was undoubtedly Volvo's brightest star shining at the Beijing auto show thanks to its bold and passionate design that clearly points to the future of Volvo.
The all-new XC60 bases its unique appeal on the synthesis between daringly sporty design and a range of intelligent safety systems that help the driver avoid accidents. This is not only the safest Volvo ever, but also the most stunning one.
Among the big technology developments is an onboard system called City Safety that can help drivers avoid or reduce effects from low-speed impacts that are common in city traffic. Volvo says City Safety clearly advertises that the new XC60 is the safest car it has ever produced.
The all-new Volvo XC60 SUV will come with the 2.5L and 3.0L versions for choice, with their prices estimated to range between 500,000 yuan ($73,200) and 600,000 yuan, according to the prices of BMW X3 and Infiniti EX35 models in the Chinese market.
However, Volvo hopes to make the long wheelbase S80L locally in China as Volvo's flagship model for the Chinese market. This model is scheduled to be produced this year in Changan Auto, a Chinese partner of Volvo's parent Ford Motor.
