Top 10 sedan brands in Jan sell 121,600 units

Shanghai, February 12 (Gasgoo.com) China's top 10 sedan brands in terms of January sales were 121,600 vehicles last month, accounting for 28 percent of the sedan sales total, statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufactures (CAAM) showed.

The top ten sedan brands in the month were Excelle, Elantra Yuedong, QQ, Elantra, Jetta, BYD F3, Santana, Corolla, Accord and Camry.

Of the ten brands Accord, Elantra Yuedong and Elantra saw a remarkable growth from the previous month, and homegrown brand QQ and F3 gained faster growth than Japanese brands such as Accord and Camry.

On a year-on-year basis, Excelle and QQ sales rose faster while Santana and Jetta underperformed, the statistics showed.

Local brands as a whole stepped up in the month with 29.65 percent market share, thanks to the vehicle purchase tax cut to 5 percent on small cars with engine size below 1.6L as this segment is dominated by local brands.

Top 5 best-selling local brands were QQ, F3, Xiali, Freedom Ship and Junjie. The five brands sold 50,300 cars in January, accounting for 39 percent of the homegrown brand sales total.
