Dongfeng to launch own-brand PV model in March

Shanghai, February 19 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Motor has announced that it will launch its in-house developed passenger vehicle (PV) model in March, Beijing Times reported today, citing Li Shaozhu, general manager of Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group Co.

Dongfeng Motor is planning to launch its own brand "Dongfeng Aeolus" (Dongfeng Fengshen) on March 26 in Beijing. The in-house developed PV model, under this new brand, is scheduled to show off at the 2009 Shanghai auto show this April, Li disclosed.

The first model is a 1.6L compact car, targeting Excelle and Elantra as its rivals, according to Li Chunrong, vice general manager of Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company.

To date, Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company has signed agreements with 56 dealerships for selling its own-brand car. The automaker plans to have three platforms ranging from A-class, B-class, to A0-class to launch models with 1.6L, 2.0L, 2.4L, and 1.4L engines.
